The Electronic Press Kit (EPK):
In a media dominated world, clear communication is imperative. The act of delivering simple, precise, and accurate information is as important to a company's growth as the product the company sells. The EPK crafts that message on behalf of the company. It may be as straight forward as the launch of a new product, or a president's address to employees, or a story about corporate social responsibility.
The Advantages:
The EPK gives creative control to the company, technical ease to the media outlet, and the potential for inspiration to the journalist. In short, the story comes to the reporter rather than the reporter going to the story.
The Media Outlets:
Television stations may run the completed story, or be inspired to commission their own news item based on the information given. Other components, necessary to electronic outlets, are included on the EPK such as B-roll, stand alone sound bites, graphics, and logos.
